Renowned training programs for financial-aid and education lending professionals

 

USA Funds® offers its Financial-Aid Workshops at locations across the country each spring and fall. The free workshops provide you with the latest information to help you administer federal student loans and other aid programs. Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and adjourn at 3 p.m. Workshop topics for the Fall-2004 series will include:

 

  • Cohort default rate. This session will review the definition of cohort default rate (CDR) and describe exactly what it measures. We will introduce alternative default measurements and discuss ways to reduce your CDR and other measures of default.

 

  • Policy and regulatory update. This session will update you on the progress of the eighth reauthorization of the Higher Education Act of 1965. We also will report on recent changes to federal student-aid policies and procedures.

 

  • Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) Fundamentals. This session will focus on important aspects of the FFELP, including program features, key players and their roles, and the electronic tools available to schools participating in the program.

 

  • USA Funds advantage. Gain insight into USA Funds services that deliver added value to you and your institution, including debt management and default prevention, training and financial literacy. Learn more about the numerous publications and the comprehensive Web site that USA Funds provides financial-aid professionals, students and parents.

 

  • Application-processing-system update. We will preview updates to the 2005–2006 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the federal student-aid-delivery system.

 

  • Investing in America's future. We will examine this report which is from the Institute for Higher Education Policy and Scholarship America, with financial support from USA Funds. The report paints a more-complete portrait of the benefits that result from investment in student aid.

 

  • What would you do? This session will cover real-life scenarios found in the financial-aid office. You will have the opportunity to engage in stimulating conversations with colleagues by discussing the key considerations and possible outcomes of various professional-judgment and customer-service case studies.
